dc.description.abstractHistorical Sketch. The Office of the Special Emergency Agent oí* the Dominican Republic was established by virtue of Law No. 206, promulgated on October 23,1931. The undersigned, who liad previously been serving as Financial Adviser to the President of the Republic, was appointed Special Emergency Agent, and has continued to act in that additional capacity up to the present time. The duties of the Special Emergency Agent, as defined in the authorizing law and related regulations issued by the Executive Power, consist of the administration of the revenues which go to make up the Emergency Fund and of other allied activities inherent in the law. By Executive Decree No. 251 of October 24, 1931, the three custom houses of Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macorís, and Puerto Plata were placed under the jurisdiction of the Special Emergency Agent, and all customs revenues collected therein were ordered deposited to his credit* in the Government depositary. In actual practice the routine administration of these three custom houses by the General Receiver of Customs has not been altered, and the latter official also continúes to administer all revenues collected in the remaining nine custom houses of the Republic.es_es, en_US
