Resumen
Sir : The outstanding fea tu re and one to be stressed in the report respectfully submitted herewith, which is the annual report for 1933, the twenty-seventh fiscal period of the Dominican customs receivership, as prescribed by the general regulations governing, is the fact that the gross customs collections, after registering declines, year by year since 1927, compared with the corresponding period immediately preceding, for 1933, reveal an increase by way of contrast with the transactions of year 1932. This may be taken as indica ti ve of a general upturn in general trade conditions of the Repfiblic. A summary of
commerce, complete with statistical tables of imports and exports and corresponding comparisons, compiled in a manner to afiord reaíjy reference, is incorporated as an integral part of the report. Introductory to the various schedules, an epitome of the leadiiíg
articles which represent the major part of the ontire trade will aid in a better conception of the country’s commerce.
