Ítem Report of the twenty-sixth fiscal period : dominican customs receivership under the American-Dominican convention of 1924(Government Printing Office, 1939) República DominicanaS ir : The report of operations of the Dominican Customs Receivership for the calendar year 1938, thirty-second fiscal period under the Convention, is respectfully submitted herewith. As directed by the general regulations goveming, the report embraces all financial transactions of the Receivership during the year. The several schedules accompanying contain particulars of the sources of all collections and disposition thereof Comment is made on certain trade developments, and Ítems of interest in connection with the general situation are briefly discussed. There is a review of the major Ítems of imports and exports; and a complete summary of commerce, with statistical data of imports and exports, compared with the trade of 1937, is incorporated as appendix C. A chapter deais with the country’s external lebt represented by outstanding Dominican customs bonds, for which the Receivership renders the necessary service. Those internal revenue collections administered by the Receivership for Government account during the year, independent of customs collections, also are reported, and the several schedules analyzing receipts and disbursements form appendix D.Ítem Report of the twenty-sixth fiscal period : dominican customs receivership under the American-Dominican convention of 1924(Government Printing Office, 1938) República DominicanaSir. In accordance with the provisions of the general regulations goveming the administration, there is respectfully transmitted liere with the annual report of the Dominican Customs Receivership for the calendar year 1937, the thirty-fírst fiscal period of operation by virtue of the American-Dominican Convention. A review of all financia] transactions, with supporting tables, embraces the collection and disposition of funds, which include the Service of the Dominican national bondcd indebtedness. The overseas trade of the country is shown in a complete summary of commerce, statistical data of imports and exports, assembled for convenient reference. In fulfillment of that portion of the general regulations governing, whicli deais with the subject, there liave been gathered tlie necessary data and appropriate remarks made relating to the principal branches of the work of the year. For convcnience in the matter of reference, the tables of customs collections and disbursements contain comparative statements of the corresponding calendar-fiscal period immediately preceding. Comment necessarily is limited to a review of those topics of principal interest, reflected from the year’s work, and dovelopments in the country, botli commercial and governmental, which bear upon the whole Dominican situation. 'A summary of coimnerce of the foreign trade is incorporated, complete in the usual statistical tables, showing by groups and schedules the volume of imports and exports, together with comparison of similar trade in 1935. Sir: A banner year with proütable crops for export, making for the bost cconomic 12 months under normal conditions in the history of Santo Domingo, is reflected in the annual report of the Dominican customs receiverehip, calendar year 1927, the twenty-first fiscal period, respectfully submitted herewith, which embraces the usual tabulated statements, narrativo matter, and summary of commercial statistics of the foreign-trade movement, in compliance with the prescribed governing regulations. The schedules which accompany and are referred to in the narrative section, contain tabulated statemonts of all collections and disposition tliereof during the year. The report embraces internal revenue collections, which are distinct from the customs, handled by the receivership under special agreoment with the Dominican Government. Togcther, the two sources of revenue indicate total collections in 1935 on imported merchandise. Topics of interest relating to developments and improvements which bear relation to the general commerce of the country are discussed, and a summary of commerce is incorporated with the usual statistical tables of the foreign trade, in which the volume of imports and exports is shown, together with comparison of the trade of the preceding year.Ítem Report of the twenty-sixth fiscal period : dominican customs receivership under the American-Dominican convention of 1924(Government Printing Office, 1934) República DominicanaSir : The outstanding fea tu re and one to be stressed in the report respectfully submitted herewith, which is the annual report for 1933, the twenty-seventh fiscal period of the Dominican customs receivership, as prescribed by the general regulations governing, is the fact that the gross customs collections, after registering declines, year by year since 1927, compared with the corresponding period immediately preceding, for 1933, reveal an increase by way of contrast with the transactions of year 1932. This may be taken as indica ti ve of a general upturn in general trade conditions of the Repfiblic. A summary of commerce, complete with statistical tables of imports and exports and corresponding comparisons, compiled in a manner to afiord reaíjy reference, is incorporated as an integral part of the report. Introductory to the various schedules, an epitome of the leadiiíg articles which represent the major part of the ontire trade will aid in a better conception of the country’s commerce.
